<p>This month, we’re excited to feature Christina L., a Bilingual Psych/BID/ERICS & DIS Counselor whose compassion, cultural responsiveness, and student-centered approach help create safe, supportive environments where every learner can thrive.</p>

<p>Keep reading to learn what inspired Christina to pursue a career in counseling—and why she’s proud to be part of the Cross Country Education team.</p>

<h2> Why did you pursue a career in counseling?	</h2>

<p> I knew I wanted to work with students with special needs from the moment I volunteered in a special education classroom in high school. That experience sparked a passion for helping others and advocating for students. After college, I started as a special education aide, then moved into behavior therapy, and eventually earned my master’s in school psychology along with BCBA coursework. Through these experiences, I fell in love with the world of behavior and realized how powerful it is in supporting students’ growth. Today, I feel grateful that my work allows me to combine counseling, assessment, and behavior intervention to make a real difference in students’ lives.

<h2> What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h2>	
<p> I love that Cross Country Education offers flexibility and supports work-life balance while allowing me to continue doing the work I’m most passionate about—counseling, behavior intervention development, and school psychology. It’s also inspiring to be part of a community of colleagues who share my dedication, where collaboration and support are always just a call or message away.
</p>

<h2> What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?	</h2>
<p> Working with a variety of schools has given me the chance to grow and learn in ways I never imagined. I’ve gained insight into different communities and schools, and as a bilingual provider, I get to help families truly understand their child’s needs. Being able to support students and their families in meaningful ways is what makes this work so rewarding every day.</p>

<h2> What kind of advice would you give to those starting in your field?</h2>
<p> Be open-minded, ask for support, and always advocate for your students. Make families feel welcomed, heard, and supported—your care makes a difference. Take time for yourself, too, and build a strong support system; this work can be demanding, but it’s deeply rewarding. And never stop learning—new research and discoveries can help you provide the best possible care and guidance for your students.</p>
